While upholding Hoyt’s Policies and Mission, the Production Manager is responsible for managing the processes and the employees working in the production areas; for reviewing and establishing material, equipment and manpower requirements; and ensuring compliance with all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
Management of selected production areas: Responsible for directing activities and management of assigned areas. Directs activities through subordinate supervisors and/or leads to attain required production goals consistent with budget, quality standards and on-time delivery, and safety training. Provides timely performance reviews for all employees using the weekly merit sheet program. Mitigates complex conflicts and provides corrective actions as needed. Coordinates production activities with preceding and succeeding departments in the production flow. Recommends departmental standards and practices.
Support and recommend key department strategies: Responsible for supporting key department strategies to improve costing, durability, and perceived value of the product. Provide suggestions for continuous improvement at the department level.
Ensures process integrity for all departments within areas of responsibility: Ensures that approved and established production processes are accurately documented, controlled and followed to assure quality at the source. Ensures that all production processes are approved by Director of Production and Manufacturing Engineering. Works with QA and Engineering to implement and document any recommended changes. Works with Environmental Health & Safety department to assure that DAQ, EPA, OSHA, and other regulations are followed.
Ensures efficient production flow: Supports the production schedule through effective utilization of resources. Tracks and reviews department efficiencies and department goals. Manages inventory, ensuring accuracy through the use of timely material transfers and cycle counting. Coordinates machine and equipment maintenance to minimize downtime. Completes monthly departmental calibrations in accordance with ISO regulations. Ensures all product produced meets the quality requirements established for their department.
Accurately reports product and process performance for departments: Records production data to be used in the production reporting and presents weekly KPI’s to Director of Manufacturing. Recommends and implements process and productivity improvements.
Develops and supports Hoyt’s human capital: Provides coaching and mentoring to department members. Conducts meaningful performance appraisals for all subordinates to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for future development. Sets measurable objectives for subordinates that align with the department and company strategy. Provides all relevant functional and technical training to employees. Provides training and support to other departments as required or needed.
Supports Organizational initiatives: As a leader of the company, is responsible for proactively establishing and/or reinforcing procedures and improvement efforts related to employee safety, employee morale, product quality, customer satisfaction, inventory accuracy, cost containment and performance to budget. Maintains good working knowledge of the Hoyt Management System and continually works to improve and follow the requirements of the Hoyt Management System. Maintains open lines of communication, sharing relevant information with superiors, peers, and subordinates. Ensure effective verbal and written communication inside and outside the organization, with responsibility to review and finalize correspondence for appropriateness and accuracy.
