Bow Used: 38 Ultra

My fiance and I backpacked into an area in northwest Colorado where I used to bowhunt with my father. The third afternoon we decided to hunt a ridge where we had consistently seen elk in the morning moving into timber. We set up on the edge of a large meadow where three game trails merged and I began calling. About a half-hour later a faint bugle drifted back. Over the next 1-2 hours, the bull moved closer and continued to respond to calls. Near 7:30 p.m, this bull's harem, consisting of eight to 10 cows and three spikes, emerged from the timer. The bull followed closely, but didn't move up the game trail for another 10 minutes. Several coaxing cow calls later, he emerged, following his harem. A final cow call stopped him broadside at 45 yards and my 38 Ultra did its job. The bull went less than 100 yards and was down in less than a minute. I've shot Hoyt since 1986, beginning with the Ram Hunter, and have owned many others along the way. Without question, the best bows in the world.
