Although Allen grew up in a non-hunting family, he was drawn to the sport at a young age and in his childhood years dreamed of becoming a serious hunter. After finishing a high school and college wrestling career, he hit the sport of hunting with full force. At the age of 25 he bought his first bow and harvested a mule deer doe. His life was forever altered.
In 2004, Allen co-founded Bolen Lewis Trophy Guiding Co., where he and his partners have created a serious bow hunting operation. Allen and his partners are fanatical trophy hunters and love to provide high success opportunities for fellow bow hunters.
Although Allen wants to harvest all 28 North American big game animals, he does not want to rush through the adventure. He wants to take each species seriously and take the required time to harvest the best representation possible, even if that means returning multiple times for the same species. Allen is serious about trophy quality and considers bow-harvested Boone and Crockett animals to be the pinnacle hunting achievement.
In 2005, Allen harvested the world record mountain goat (currently #2), and in 2012 he tagged the #5 woodland caribou. He also has numerous other fine Pope and Young trophies (and even a few of his coveted archery-killed Boone and Crockett entries).
Allen loves the hunt and loves to have fun working toward his goals. He finds that when he takes it too seriously the fun stops and his success will suffer. He believes that when a hunter is relaxed and having the time of his life, things just tend to go better, and often luck will find him.
Allen is also on pro-staff with Hoyt Archery, Fuse Accessories, Scott Archery, CBE, Leica Sport Optics, and Grim Reaper Broadheads.
