Team Hoyt dominates Western Classic and NFAA Marked 3D Championship

The sun may not have made much of a showing, but Team Hoyt sure did. Rain and mud wasn’t enough to keep 1,600 archers away from a good time, and the harsh weather made for a gritty backdrop to Hoyt’s dominant Redding appearance.

Hoyt Pros Donnie Thacker and Sam Wolthuis won the highly esteemed Money Team Shoot in a dramatic 88-yard shoot off at the iconic elk herd, beating out several other teams who all finished regular scoring with a tie. Hoyt shooters Jesse Broadwater and Shane Wills took second in the team shoot and David Houser and his teammate rounded out the top 3.

Steve Anderson took first in the Pro NFAA Marked 3D Championship.

Steve Anderson, who is no stranger to finishing in the top of the pack in the Pro NFAA Marked 3D Championship in Redding, finished the weekend at 3 down and found himself in a tie for first. After hitting closest to center in an 88-yard one arrow shoot-off, Steve claimed the victory outright. Fellow Hoyt shooter and Redding course record holder, Jesse Broadwater, finished on the NFAA podium with Steve, taking 3rd place.

Rod Menzer took first in Senior Pro Division.

No shoot off was necessary for Rod Menzer, who crushed the competition in Senior Pro Division by shooting a 1527/1540, winning the Redding Western Classic Trail Shoot and Pro NFAA Marked 3D Championship in a decisive manner.

Congrats also goes out to Crystal Gauvin for a strong weekend and a second place finish in women’s pro and to Crystal fellow Hoyt pro Serena Schleusner for a second place finish in the women’s team shoot.

Special thanks to the staff at Straight Arrow Bowhunters for putting on an amazing event, and to all who participated!
